2016 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULE (all times are tentative)

Scheduled events at the 2016 Cabin Fever Festival will take place at three separate venues, all within a three block section of Superior St in downtown Duluth MN. The Main Ballroom will be in the Radisson Harborview Hotel (505 W Superior St), the dinner show will be at the Incline Station (601 W Superior St), and the dance activities will be at the Avalon Educational Institute (404 W Superior St).


FRIDAY APRIL 15


RADISSON HOTEL, Main Ballroom
We'll start things off on Friday with The Bootlickers and The Woodpicks in the main ballroom, plus our traditional Friday Night Live open mic from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. To sign up for an open time email Mark Howard at kinvarra7@gmail.com. Or show up day of and see what spots are still open. Please don't forget, this is open mic, and participants are still expected to pay the festival admission fee to help us pay the bills.

7:30-10:00 Old-Time Dance with The Bootlickers. Dances taught and called by Terrence Smith. Come as you are, no experience or partner needed.

Workshops, Room A, Radisson Hotel

10:00 AM: The Whole Band: The entire Art Stevenson & Highwater band will discuss all aspects of putting together a song including arrangement, harmony, and back up.

11:20 PM - Banjo: Dale Reichert of Highwater on bluegrass banjo.

1:20 PM - Vocal Harmonies: The Woodpicks will break participants into groups by their vocal range, and work up a song.

2:40 PM - Old Time Fiddle: AJ Srubas and Rina Rossi of the Bootlickers will teach Old Time Fiddle, including twin fiddles playing off each other.

Workshops, Room B, Radisson Hotel

11:20 AM - Mandolin: Bruce King of Highwater on bluegrass mandolin.

1:20 PM - Old-Time Guitar: Arne Pelton of the Bootlickers teaching the session.

2:40 PM -Resonator Guitar: Paul Jones will lead the session. Paul, who currently plays with the Fish Heads, also plays pedal steel guitar.

Workshops, Main Ballroom

4:10 PM - Clogging: Rina Rossi and Arne Pelto of the Bootlickers will teach clogging on the wood dance floor in the main performance area.


Draw Bands: Are you a picker? Beginner, intermediate, or expert, it doesn't matter, you can sign-up to be in a draw band. You put your name in the bucket for the instrument you play (sign-up starts at 10:00 AM just outside the main ballroom). At 2:30 PM we'll draw names and create a band with one of each instrument. Each band will then get 15 minutes of stage time in the main ballroom starting at 7:00 PM.
