Since 2001, Monroe Crossing has played many hundreds of concerts in theatres and opera houses, performances presented by regional arts associations,and community and bluegrass festivals. Lisa Fuglie, a veteran of The Hers, The Outskirts, Strawberry Jam, and the Deadly Nightshade Family Singers, handles lead and harmony vocals, fiddle, and the occasional mandolin break. Mark Anderson, having played bass and drums in rock bands, has found his true calling as a bluegrass bass player. Art Blackburn, previously with Art & Sandi's Pretty Good Band, Big Skyota, and The Pretty Good Bluegrass Band, sings lead and harmony and delivers strong flatpicking guitar. Matt Thompson is a terrific mandolin player, handles front work for the band, and provides the third part trio harmonies. An original founding member of the band, Benji Flaming contributes drive and taste on the banjo.
