Minnesota
Mandolin Orchestra

Founded in 1991 and directed by Lon
Hendricks, the Minnesota Mandolin Orchestra draws
its inspiration from the dawn of the 20th century, when the
mandolin was one of the nation's most popular home instruments.
The orchestra's members - who perform on a full range of mandolin-family
instruments, including mandolin, mandola, and mandocello, as
well as guitar - play a diverse range of styles: old-time music,
bluegrass, ragtime, classical, popular music from throughout
the 20th century, jazz, and new music. The orchestra has performed
at many MBOTMA events, as well as at the Lake Harriet
Bandshell, the Como Park Lakeside Pavilion, the Minnesota Governor's
Mansion, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and other public
and private venues.
