Grass Seeds Reunion Jam

Open to all former Grass Seeds Academy participants!

Let's gather in the Fireside and renew old friendships and pick some tunes together! Chris Silver will lead a jam for an hour, but if you're not done reminiscing and having fun playing together, we'll move the jam to Conference Room E, The Gathering Place!

Here's a few tunes we'll start with, and we'll see where it goes from there!

  • Angeline the Baker - D
  • Old Joe Clark - A
  • Little Cabin Home on the Hill - A
  • Tennessee Waltz - C
  • Deep Elem Blues - G
  • Squirrel Hunter - A

Rosin up your bow, tune up your banjo and join in!

Participation in the Reunion Jam only is FREE. If you're staying for workshops or concerts, wristbands are required.

Band Scramble

What Is It?

A Band Scramble is an event where bands are randomly selected by drawing names from a hat! You've then got a few hours to get together, pick a couple of songs, rehearse and then play on the Fireside Stage!

NEW THIS YEAR! One of the Scramble Bands will be designated as an Old Time Music band. You do not need to be an expert player or singer, however all players should be comfortable with jamming/playing in multiple keys.

How Does It Work?

  1. Sign up HERE and fill out the form.
  2. Go to the Europa Room on Saturday morning 11:30am for Band Scramble Orientation & the drawing to learn who your new bandmates are.
  3. Split up into your groups and rehearse in one of the Studios.
  4. Perform on the Fireside Stage between 5 & 7pm on Saturday evening!

Anyone can sign up to be a part of this crazy event!

Sign up on your own or encourage your buddies to signup up for the draw bands!

  • Band leaders will be available to help facilitate or mentor the groups as needed
  • Open to players of any instrument at any level of ability -- experienced and new players welcome

Some new players may want to experience their first time on stage, maybe another stepping out into soloing, others may be very experienced but haven’t shared the stage with each other before. This is a great time to show off the bluegrass and old-time traditions of mentorship!

Each Draw Band will perform on the Fireside stage with the Fireside Live sound set-up. Be sure to attend the orientation in the Europa Room to learn about performing with our microphone set-up.

Early Bird Jam

Hello Musicians and Singers!  We will again be hosting an Early Bird Bluegrass Jam at the Fall Jam, on November 7, beginning at 6:00. ALL levels of players are Welcome and no-one is expected to lead songs/breaks/or know all the lyrics to songs… just HAVE A GOOD TIME, meet other musicians, encourage each other, and TUNE!

We follow some standard Bluegrass Jamming Etiquette, and food and beverages are close by if you’re arriving straight from work!   AND, participation is FREE – no ticket/wristband needed Thursday night!   See Ya There!!
